<Cause>
The paper sensor is not detecting the print paper.
<Probable faulty component>
The paper sensor, the PCB, and/or the AUTO/MANUAL
mode change switch.

<Symptom>

Although the FEED/FORWARD switch is functioning correctly, the automatic paper
winding in AUTO mode can not be functioned.

Part 5: Maintenance

- Check that the lever for the paper sensor moves up and down smoothly.
- Check that the photo interrupter is installed correctly.
- Check for a loose connection or disconnection of the cables.

The operation switch unit is failed.

OK?

Yes

Inspect the paper

sensor/lever visually.

Repair or replace the

failed parts.

Test continuity of the AUTO/

MANUAL mode select switch

including cable and connector.

Use a multimeter to check the continuity
of the switch.

Replace the unit.

- Check the voltage on the sensor.
- Or, short the No. 1 pin of the

connector CN1 and the GND on
the PCB to check the reaction.

- When the lever is pressed down, the voltage between

the No. 1 pin of the connector CN1 (on the PCB) and
the GND must be 0V.

- Or, the motor will start when the No. 1 pin of the

connector CN1 and the GND are shorted.
(See the circuit diagram for the details.)

Not 0V, or the motor starts.

Replace the
failed parts.

The sensor or the sensor cable is
failed.

The PCB is failed.

Replace it.

2. AUTO mode is

unavailable.
