In the paper delivery mode (recommended roll media):
During the delivery operation, when the cassette A (or B) pick up sensor detects the
rear end of the paper, the roll paper on the platen is ejected instead of being
rewound to the cassette.
In the paper pick up mode (non-recommended roll media):
When the spindle A (or B) sensor detects the rear end of the paper during pick up
stage is canceled. In this case, to prevent the adhesive termination tape, which may
be found at the rear end of the non-recommended roll paper, from attaching to the
rollers in the printer the roll paper is rewound to the cassette.
In the printing mode (non-recommended roll media):
When the spindle A (or B) sensor detects the end of the paper during printing,
printing is canceled. The paper is cut and wound back to the cassette. However, in
the case that the page printed before the print job is canceled is not long enough to
meet the specified length, the cut paper may stay in the printer.
In the paper delivery mode (non-recommended roll media):
During the delivery operation, when the spindle A (or B) detects the end of the paper
while the paper on the platen is being carried back, the roll paper is rewound to the
cassette. This action is performed because the rear end marker has been removed
for some reason.
In the paper pick up mode (cut sheet media):
When the manual feed sensor detects the end of the paper during the pick up
operation, the rewinding action is skipped and the paper is delivered from the
manual feed slot.
In the printing mode (cut sheet media):
When the manual feed sensor detects the end of the paper during printing, the
printer attempts to print as much data as it can if the subsequent paper length
needed for printing is insufficient to complete the entire print job. Then the print job
is canceled. If the subsequent paper length needed for printing is enough to
complete the entire print job, the printing continues normally and the rest of the
paper followed by the last printed portion will be delivered.
ii) Roller trace preventive sequence
Pressure roller trace preventive sequence
Because the pressure rollers may produce traces or marks on the roll paper if the
paper resides on the platen for some time, the following preventive sequence is
performed.
Paper is fed at 2mm every 5*
1
minutes for a specified 255 minutes. Then the paper is
rewound up to the original position to wait for the printing command.
When printing is instructed during this feeding process, the paper is rewound back
to the original position to start printing.
When printing is instructed after the specified period, the paper is carried about
100mm*
2
for a margin and printing starts.
*
1
The initial value is 5 minutes. The user must specify this value if non-
recommended paper is used.
*
2
When Paper Cut is set to Yes, the amount of paper carried is cut.
