Pump valve sensor

The pump valve sensor, a photo interrupter-based sensor, detects the open/closed
state of the pump valves. The tubes that are not used for supplying color inks are
pressed by the pump valves to block the ink flow.
If the sensor light passes through the cut in the rotary flag, which is interlocked with
the pump valve cam shaft, the printer recognizes that all pump valves are open. The
other states are determined based on the number of pulses used for the rotation of
the pulse motor, which is calculated using the timing when the light passes though
the cut.

Y/PC/PM air valve sensor

The Y/PC/PM air valve sensor, a photo interrupter-based sensor, detects the
open/closed state of the air valves for yellow, photomagenta, and photocyan inks.
If the sensor light passes through the cut in the rotary flag, which is interlocked with
the Y/PC/PM air cam shaft, the printer recognizes that all the air valves (Y, PC and
PM) are open. The closed state is determined based on the number of pulses used for
the rotation of the pulse motor, which is calculated using the timing when the light
passes though the cut.
