Addresses in the following table are reserved, by convention, and
should
not be used as a device address.

Addresses not shown in the preceding table should be valid, as long
as they identify the host within the given network. See your System
Supervisor for the correct address to use.
Network Masks
The server uses a network mask to identify all workstations on the
same network. In the absence of subnetting, the network mask is
created by using 255 (all 1s) for the network ID address octets and
by using 0 for the host ID octets.
On a class C network , the network mask is
255.255.255.0
On a class B network , the network mask is
255.255.0.0
On a class A network , the network mask is
255.0.0.0
