7-12 Media: Handling and Printing ___________________________
Optional Duplexer
The optional duplexer allows you to print double-sided copy
automatically, rather than by feeding pages manually.
Guidelines for Using the Duplexer
Follow these guidelines when using the duplexer to prevent paper
jams and ensure the highest quality output.
•
Use the duplexer for A3, A4, B4, letter, legal, and tabloid size
16-28 lb bond (60-105 g/m
2
) paper.
•
Do not use the duplexer for media other than paper
•
Do not use the duplexer for A5, B5, executive, or oversized
(larger than 11.00" x 17" [279 mm x 432 mm]) paper.
•
Load media print side down with the top to the right side of the
cassette.
•
Avoid using recycled paper in the duplexer. Recycled paper may
absorb moisture which can cause the paper to wrinkle or fold.
This can result in paper jams.
•
Verify that your printer has the necessary RAM for duplexing.
RAM requirements depend on the paper size and printing
resolution. See “Printer Memory Requirements” in chapter 9.
“Duplexer” in chapter 10 covers installing the duplexer.
Coated Stock Printing
Always use the standard upper cassette and follow these guidelines
when printing coated stock.
•
Make sure coated stock meets the requirements in “Guidelines
for Selecting and Storing Media” earlier in this chapter.
•
Make sure that you select Coverstock in the front panel Media
Type menu.
