1. Attach the ion source cartridge to the end of the small source removal tool as shown in

Figure 222

2. With the notch on the ion source cartridge facing straight up, insert the ion source

cartridge into the instrument. See

Figure 223

3. Once the ion source cartridge is inserted into the ion source block, turn the small source

tool to the right until you feel the ion source cartridge engage.

4. Remove the small source tool from the instrument.

5. Be sure that the source interface board wires do not touch anything metal in the manifold

before closing the door.

Note

For correct insertion, the notch on the ion source cartridge must be facing up.
