RCDS mode
When an ARCS chart is selected (right click on the chart and in the pop-up menu click
Other
charts/ARCS
), the proper chart will appear on the display and the RCDS mode is indicated in
the windows title bar at the top left hand corner of the screen.
In addition to the name and ID of the charts, ECDIS900 displays the datum of the chart and
the datum shift between this datum and WGS84.
Ú
Note:
When no datum information is available for the chart, the system displays the
message 'Undetermined' in the windows title.
ENC data available indicator
When a route is checked for danger, an indication is given when the route crosses an area
covered by ENC data. When a route is being monitored (see ) an alarm is given when the ship
enters an area covered by ENC data.
Chart handling
The ECDIS900 software is copy protected with a dongle and Personal Identification Number
(PIN).
Each ARCS chart permit has a unique 40-digit code linked to a UKHO User Permit Number
issued against a customer PIN.
The PIN number must be entered when asked on the first occasion ARCS charts are installed.
The ARCS User License Number (6 digits) is required when ordering charts.
Entering PIN code
If the PIN is invalid, a warning appears and the mariner has to re-type the PIN code.
If, after the three attempts, the user has still failed to enter the correct PIN, the system does
not allow the user to enter the PIN again for a certain time.
If the problem persists, contact NAVICO support.
Chart handling
Management of the ARCS chart database is carried out within the Chart handling dialog.
Select the ARCS tab and install permits or charts or delete charts or update the database or
access the collection status from this dialog.
