Alert management
The ECDIS900 system must provide alerts and indications to inform about critical or non-
critical failures and other events. Alerts are indicated on each ECDIS workstation and are
synchronized with BAMS.
Display notifications
When an alert is triggered, an alert message is displayed in the alert area located in the
console and the danger is highlighted on the chart or in the console area.
Alerts are categorized in 3 priority levels:

By default a sound signal accompanies an alert message that is not acknowledged and the
pulse frequency of the flashing of the alert button is 1 Hz.
The following sound patterns are used:
•
Alarm: 3 beeps each 10 seconds; the alarm can be silenced once without acknowledge for
the 30 seconds.
•
Warning: 1 beep each minute.
Alarms and warnings are accompanied by an appropriate audible signal pattern emitted by a
buzzler located in the front frame of the monitor or in a panel.
Silence mode is available for the alarms once and no longer than for 60 seconds. After that
alarm must be acknowledged.
To avoid alert in harbor and berthing condition, activate the Harbor mode.
