The following VDL messages are also processed and displayed:

1, 2, 3, and 5 (Class A AIS and AIS-SART)

18, 19, and 24 (Class B AIS)
•
9 (AIS on Airborne SAR craft)
•
21 (AIS AtoN)
•
12 and 14 (Safety related messages)
•
6 and 8 (AIS application specific messages)
ECDIS provides an elegant and efficient interface to this messaging facility
Receiving messages
When a new message is received by the AIS, it is automatically transferred to ECDIS and the
notification is blinking small blue envelope icon (displayed next to the acknowledgement
button in the alarm panel).
1.
Click on the envelope icon to display the messaging dialog and click the
Incoming
button to see incoming messages.

New messages are listed in the lower part of the window with the senders name and the
time of reception.
3.
Click on the line to display the full message in the upper part of the dialog.
4.
Double click on the message to acknowledge it or push the
Acknowledge
button to
acknowledge all messages. The messages that have not been acknowledged are
displayed as bold.
5.
Right click on the message to delete it from the list or click
Clear
to delete all messages.
6.
Select how long you want to keep the messages in the log with the
Save last
parameter.
7.
Print all messages with the button
Print history

8.
Display the incoming messages from only the active recipients, i.e. the current received
AIS signals.

Note:
When a received message is not acknowledged, the message is displayed on the
chart next to the target name of the AIS sender.
Tip:
Right double click on the message centers the chart on the AIS target.

Click on the blue envelop icon located in the Alarm panel or use the keys

button in the target list or right click on the target and select the menu
Send text message
to bring the AIS messaging window in front.
