Module replacement without programming device or PC
The IM 154-4 PN High Feature interface module and the CM IM PN M12, 7/8" and
CM IM PN PP Cu connection modules each have an internal memory in which the device
name is saved. As a result, there are different scenarios for the validity of the device name
when replacing a module without a programming device.
Device name scenarios
Validity of the device name
Device name in CM and IM = empty
MAC address (no device name)
Device name in CM = IM or IM = CM
Device name in CM
Device name in CM ≠ IM or IM ≠ CM
Device name in CM
Device name in CM = ok and IM = empty
Device name in CM
Device name in IM = ok and in CM = empty
Device name in IM
Note
The CM IM PN PP FO connection module does not have an internal memory, in other words
a module cannot be replaced without a programming device or PC. You must assign the
device name with STEP 7.
With prioritized startup, the device name of the IM is requested instead of the device name in
the CM.
Resetting to factory settings
Resetting to factory settings pertains only to the interface module. When a reset to factory
settings is performed, other modules in the station assume the configured substitute value
behavior or become de-energized.
