Limitations
The following limitations apply for this release:
Policing is not supported for outbound traffic on Ethernet interfaces.
Multi-level policing is not supported. Policing is done only for leaf classes.
Any policing configuration on non-leaf classes is ignored.
Policing and CBQ shaping are independent and mutually exclusive
features. You must configure CBQ parameters if you to enable the CBQ
shaping feature.
Multi-Field Classification
The Multi-Field(MF) classifier is an important component of QoS.
Its purpose is to help define flows for which appropriate service parameters
can be configured. Flow classification is the first step in the QoS process.
The aggregate traffic is classified into flows or traffic classes. Each traffic
class can be configured with the desired QoS parameters, which determine the
forwarding treatment given to packets matching that class.
The classifier will support multi-field(MF) classification of packets based on
any combination of the following header fields:
Packet class
Source IPv4 address(or prefix)
Destination IPv4 address(or prefix)
IPv4 DiffServ codepoint(DSCP
IPv4 precedence
IPv4 protocol type
Source/destination TCP/UDP ports
VLAN ID
802.1p values(User Priority)
MPLS EXP bits
Traffic classification can be configured for inbound and outbound traffic on
any interface. Multiple values can be specified for each of the above attributes
to define ‘more aggregate’ or ‘coarser’ flows. Values can be specified either as
a range or multiple non-contiguous values. There is no restriction on the
number of values, for example, any number of IP addresses can be assigned to
a traffic class for creating a match rule.
