Section 8 Measurement optimization
This Section illustrates the typical application of the cable and cable and antenna analyzer technology,
each of which is tailored to the different features of the S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer. The
section introduces the following measurement methods and applications:
1. Reduce trace noise
2. Add the number of sweep points.
3. Improve measurement stability
4. Improve the sweeping speed
NOTE:
The number unit key is expressed with the “

section to ensure the text continuity.

for short.
I. Increase the Number of Sweep Points
A data point represents the measurement result under one excitation, which can define the number of
sweeping points in one sweep measurement of the microwave analyzer. The sweeping time varies with
the number of sweeping points, which is 201 points by default and the maximum number of points that
can be set is 10001 points.
•
Use the maximum number of sweep points to get the best resolution
trace for better observation of the response of the device under test.
•
If users want to achieve faster measurement speeds, they should
use the minimum number of sweep points that present acceptable
NOTE:
accuracy.
•
The optimal number of sweeping points is the number of points
when the measurement trace does not change significantly in the
case of number of points is increased.
•
To ensure measurement accuracy, the number of sweep points for
calibration and measurement should be identical.
Steps for setting number of sweep:
Press [Swp/Setup] → [Points] and enter the number of sweeping points with the numeric keys and select
from 2 to 10,001.
