Testing steps
1) Press
【
Mode
】
→[Vector Network Analyzer] to set the working mode to vector network analyzer
mode;
2) Based on the model of the instrument, set its start frequency to 2MHz or 50MHz, stop
frequency to its upper limit, output power to -10dBm, IF BW to 100Hz, points to 401, and press

3) Press
【
Calibrate
】
→[Cal Kit] to select the correct calibration kit, then press [M Cal]→[One
Port@S11], as shown in Figure 4-14, to complete the measurement of standard parts such
as OPEN, SHORT and LOAD, and finally press [Done] to complete the calibration;
4) Do not remove the LOAD used in the last step of calibration from the measurement port. Press
[Swp/Setup]→[Swp Once], wait for the completion of one sweep, change the scale as required
to make the curve readable, press [Peak]→[Advance], find the maximum test value according
to the test log sheet and based on the frequency band, use it as the directional index of Port 1,
and fill in corresponding column of the test log sheet;
5) Press
【

】
→[S22] to change the test port to Port 2;
6) Repeat steps 3) - 4) to calibrate one port@S22 and complete directional index test of Port 2.

Effective source matching
Description:
Source matching refers to the matching degree of the output impedance equivalent to the
measurement port with the system standard impedance. In reflection measurement, the source
matching error signal is the signal reflected by the measured part, then reflected back to the measured
part by the signal source and finally reflected by the measured part. The source matching is expressed in
dB. The larger the value is, the better the index is, and the smaller the measurement error is. Ideally it is
infinite.
It is to test the source matching characteristics of Port 1 and Port 2 after calibration and error correction
in the network analysis mode of the microwave analyzer.
