c) Use the numeric keys to enter the sweep time value and select the time unit on the touch screen to
complete the setting.
If the sweep time is automatic, the sweep speed may change depending on the change of RBW and
VBW. The larger the values of RBW and VBW, the faster the sweeping speed and vice versa. The
sweep time of S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer can be set up to 200s when the minimum sweep time
limit is met.
1
Sweep Method
The sweep method setting determines how the microwave analyzer sweeps and when it stops to enter
into the hold state. The S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer provides two trigger modes in the
spectrum analyzer mode: continuous sweep and sweep once.
Steps for setting sweep mode are as follows:
a) Press [Swp] → [Trigger Type Cont Single] , each time you press it, the sweep type is switched once,
and the underline selection mode is the current working mode.
b) When selecting a sweep once, the microwave analyzer performs a sweep and then enters into the
hold mode. Each press of the [Run/Hold] key will trigger a sweep.
c) In the continuous sweep mode, the microwave analyzer continuously sweeps.
2
Sweep Points
The number of sweep points is the number of data points in the measurement frequency range, and one
data point represents the measurement result at one frequency. Under certain conditions of the
frequency range, the number of sweep points determines the frequency spacing between adjacent data
points.
a) In linear sweep mode, the number of sweep points is fixed at 501 points.
b) In the list sweep mode, the number of sweep points can be set from 11 to 501.
3
Sweep Mode
The S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer supports two sweep modes: linear sweep and list sweep.
4
Linear Sweep
Linear sweep refers to sweep at linear frequency spacings with equal frequency spacing between
adjacent measurement points.
Steps for selecting a linear sweep are as follow:
a) Press [Swp] → [Swp Mode Lin List] ;
b) Switch to linear sweep mode, the default is linear sweep.
In the linear sweep mode, the trigger type is divided into freerun, video trigger and external trigger. The
specific operations are as follows:
a) Press [Swp] → [Trigger [External] >] → [Freerun], select the trigger mode as freerun;
b) Press [Swp] → [Trigger [Video] >] → [Video -25dBm], select the trigger mode as video, input the
value by numerical key and select the appropriate unit to complete the parameter setting;
c) Press [Swp] → [Trigger [External] >] → [External 1.5V], select the trigger mode as external , and
select the external trigger slop setting by pressing [Trig Slope Positive Negative], Press [Trig Delay
1.000ms], input the value by the numeric keys and complete the input setting delay parameter by
pressing corresponding time unit.
In the linear sweep mode, it also provides time gate function, the specific operations are as follows:
a) Press [Swp] → [Time Gate [Off] >] → [Time Gate Off On] to turn on/off the time gate function;
b) Press [Swp] → [Time Gate [Off] >] → [Door Delay 1.000us], type the value by the numeric keys and
complete the set door delay time by pressing corresponding time unit;
c) Press [Swp] → [Time Gate [Off] >] → [Gate Width 1.000us] , type the value by the numeric keys and
complete the setting of the door width by pressing corresponding time unit;
d) Press [Swp] → [Time Gate [Off] >] → [Edge Pole Pos Neg] to switch the edge pole of the time gate
