Chapter VII Power Monitoring Mode (Option)
The power monitoring mode (hereinafter referred to as "PM") is an optional test function option for the
S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer, and the measured frequency range covers 100kHz - 18GHz
(S5105D), 100kHz - 26.5GHz ( S5105E), 100kHz - 40GHz (S5105F) . This mode eliminates the
necessity of connecting an external power probe, and can easily test the power of a continuous wave
signal under a certain bandwidth, and the channel bandwidth can be set to a larger width to simulate
the average power meter measurement.
Section 1 Basic Operations
This Section will briefly introduce the power monitoring mode measurement function and measurement
method of the S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer, so that the first-time users can have a general
understanding of the test operation process and perform basic measurement after reading this section.

Select modeSelect mode
Connect the signal to be tested to the spectrum input port of the

After preheating, press→ [Power Monitor], select the power monitoring mode, and press [OK] to
complete the mode setting.

Set the reference level
Press the

and the setting options related to the reference are displayed on the right side
of the screen, press [Ref Level 0.00dBm] → [0] → [dBm] , set the reference level to 0dBm.

Set Frequency Information

→ [Center Freq] → [1] → [GHz], set the center frequency to 1GHz, and press

→ [Sweep >] → [1] [0] [MHz] to set the span to 10MHz.

mode of the S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer, and how to open the frequency setting soft menu

Set Sweep Frequency
There are two ways to set the frequency in the power monitoring mode of the S5105D/E/F microwave
analyzer:
Set start and stop frequencies
a)
Press

→ [Start Freq];
b)
Enter the starting frequency value with the numeric keys and stop the input by pressing
corresponding frequency unit on the touch screen.
c)
Press [Stop Freq];
d)
Enter the stop frequency value with the figure keys and stop the input by pressing corresponding
frequency unit on the touch screen.
Set center frequency and span
a)
Press

b)
Enter the center frequency value with the figure keys and stop the input by pressing corresponding
frequency unit on the touch screen.

Press [Span];
d)
Enter the Span value with numeric keys and stop the input by pressing corresponding frequency
