Section 11 Recommended Test Methods
This section provides the recommended test methods for main technical Specifications of
S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer in vector network analyzer mode. Such Specifications can
comprehensively reflect the performance and status of the microwave analyzer. The microwave
analyzer to be tested should be stored at the operating temperature for at least 2 hours, and then
started and warmed up for 20 minutes before testing the following indicators without error. Instruments
used in the recommended test methods include: spectrum analyzer 4036E, test cable 0K0CJ0CK024.0,
calibration kits, etc. Other test equipment with similar Specifications may also be used, but the test
equipment should be qualified by measurement to ensure its accuracy and reliability. The test data
obtained with the recommended methods will be recognized by us and can be used as the basis for
determining whether the instrument is qualified at the time of handover.
The specific steps for testing the following Specifications are prepared based on the instruments listed in
the test equipment. When other instruments with the same performance characteristics are used,
corresponding operation instructions should be referred to for the specific operation methods.
The reset operation mentioned in the test steps refers to the manufacturer reset mode.
The main technical Specifications of microwave analyzer in vector network analyzer mode are: frequency
range and frequency accuracy, port output power, power setting step, effective direction, effective source
matching, dynamic range and maximum port input power.
1
Frequency range and frequency accuracy
Description:
Frequency range in this test refers to the range of the minimum frequency and the
maximum frequency of the signal output by the microwave analyzer working at the port in vector network
analyzer mode. Frequency accuracy refers to the difference between the measured frequency and the set
frequency of the signal output at the port.

b) Testing steps
1) Press
【
Reset
】
on the microwave analyzer to set the working mode to vector network analyzer
mode, and press
【
Measure
】
[S11] to set the test port to Port 1;
2) Press
【
Frep
】
[Start] and [Stop] respectively to set the start frequency and the stop frequency
of the microwave analyzer to the minimum frequency and the maximum frequency of
corresponding model; if it can be set to the minimum and the maximum frequency, the
frequency range meets the requirements.
3) Connect the instrument as shown in Figure 4-12; connect Port 1 (RF output port) to the RF
input port of the spectrum analyzer, set the reference level of the spectrum analyzer to
10dBm, and enable frequency counting;
4) Press
【
Frep
】
[Center Freq], 1GHz, [Span] and 0Hz to set the instrument to work at the point
frequency of 1GHz;
5) Set the center frequency of the spectrum analyzer to be the same as that of the instrument,
