Testing steps
1) Connect the test equipment as shown in dotted line in Figure 5-33. The S5105D/E/F
microwave analyzer provides the reference frequency for the composite signal generator
1464B/C. The low-frequency output port of the composite signal generator is connected to the
RF input port of the microwave analyzer as shown in dotted line in Figure 5-33);
2) Set the composite signal generator as follows: Press
【
Frep
】
-> [Set Low Frequency Generator]
-> [Set Frequency] (to 100kHz) -> [Set Amplitude] -10 dBm -> [Back] -> [Low Frequency
Output On Off] .
3) Set the microwave analyzer to the spectrum analyzer mode, and set the center frequency of the
microwave analyzer to 100 kHz, span 1 kHz, reference level 0 dBm, and other items are auto.
On the spectrum analyzer, press
Peak Value
. At this time, the marker points to the maximum
signal response; the marker amplitude value has no obvious jitter and the signal can be clearly
distinguished. The center frequency value is the lower-limit measured value of the frequency
span, and fill this value in the corresponding test items of

4) Connect the RF output of the composite signal generator to the RF input of the microwave
analyzer with adapters and cables by following the solid lines of Figure 5-33. Set the output
frequency of the signal generator to the highest frequency of the corresponding spectrum
analyzer model, the modulation function to off, and the output power to -10 dBm.
5) Set the center frequency of the microwave analyzer to the highest frequency of the
corresponding model, span to 1 kHz, reference level to 0 dBm and other items to auto. On the
microwave analyzer, press
Peak Value
. At this time, the marker points to the maximum signal
response; the marker amplitude value has no obvious jitter and the signal can be clearly
distinguished. The center frequency value is the upper-limit measured value of the frequency
span, and fill this value in the corresponding test items of

Frequency Readout Accuracy
Description:
Frequency readout accuracy is used to represent the proximity of the frequency
measurement indicator value of spectrum analyzer function of Analyzer to the corresponding true value.
The frequency measurement indicator value of the spectrum analyzer is subject to the influence of some
factors such as frequency reference, span and RBW. Use an input signal with known frequency to test
the accuracy of the frequency read out from the spectrum analyzer, which represents the degree of
difference between the test indicator value and the true value. The smaller the difference, the higher the
accuracy.
