STEADY REST OPEN/CLOSE OPERATION
(STEADY REST SPECIFICATION)
This section explains the steady rest open/close operation and interlocks in opening/closing the
steady rest.

Conditions for Opening/Closing the Steady Rest
To open/close the steady rest manually, the conditions that allow the steady rest opening/closing
must be satisfied. If the steady rest cannot be opened/closed although correct operation
sequence is followed, check if the following conditions are all satisfied.
<Conditions>
1.
The turret station on which the steady rest is installed is indexed.
2.
The steady rest is placed in the manual mode (only for manual operation).
3.
The spindle or rotary tool spindle (MC type) is not rotating.
4.
The turret head is not being indexed.

Interlocks for Using the Steady Rest
For using the steady rest, the following interlocks are provided.
1.
To prevent the steady rest from interfere with the workpiece, the turret 2 cannot be indexed
under the following states.
The turret 2 X-axis is not at the zero point.
The steady rest is not closed.
(The indicator in the STEADY REST 1 CLOSE switch does not blink.)
2.
To prevent the steady rest from interference with the workpiece, the turret 2 X- and Z-axes
cannot be moved unless any of the following states is satisfied.
When the turret station on which the steady rest is installed is indexed, the steady rest
is opened. (The indicator in the STEADY REST 1 OPEN
switch is lit.)
When the turret station on which the steady rest is installed is indexed, the steady rest
is at the closing end.
