virtual volume process

virtual volume process.

 The SMF process managing a logical volume. This is a process 

pair. Also known as virtual disk process.

volume.

A physical storage device (disk) for files on a NonStop system. Volume names 

always begin with a dollar sign ($). It is the part of the designation that identifies where 
users store a document. The volume (like a file cabinet) holds subvolumes (like file 
drawers) that contain files (like individual folders).
