CAB CONSTRUCTION
The Aluminum T ilt 90 S eries cab re p re s e n ts
many m odern engineering fe a tu re s designed to
provide excellent d riv e r com fort and safety (fig. 1).
The cab is offered in th re e different BBC dim en
sions; standard cab is 54 inches, optional sle e p e r
cabs a r e 74 and 86 inches. R efer to "GENERAL
CAB MAINTENANCE" (SEC. 1A) for inform ation
concerning cab identification.
Cab is hinge-m ounted a t front to allow cab
to be tilted 80 d eg rees forw ard for a c cess to en
gine, co ntrols, and cab u n d erstru ctu re. Tilting
is accom plished through use of a hand-operated
hydraulic pump and lifting cylinder. A positive
pin-type locking device is employed to re ta in
cab in selected tilt position. R ear cab mount
latch es re le a se hydraulically when tilt pump is
o perated in " U P ” position.
Cab fram ing and paneling is of aluminum
construction. Engine housing is com posed of left
and rig h t hand stam ped panels with a ce n te r con
necting panel with offset. F orm ed sheet aluminum
o u ter panels a re sealed and riveted to m ajor cab
fram e m em bers.
Cab front upper panel is a form ed aluminum
stam ping incorporating openings for h e a te r inlet,
ra d ia to r g rill, and engine serv ic e doors. The
a c c e s s doors a re hinge mounted with m agnetic
ca tc h es. The g rill is a cro ss-h atch e d assem bly
of extruded alum inum s trip s surrounded by a
b rig h t m etal moulding.
The roof, cab back, and sid e s a re com pletely
lined with rigid foam m a te ria l. O ver th is is a
la y e r of tufflex insulation covered with em bossed
black vinyl. N on-reflective finished m a te ria ls a re
used throughout for in te rio r of cab.
The floor is insulated and covered with ru b
b e r m atting o r optional black nylon carpeting.
C arpeting is lam inated to 1 /2 " re s in im pregnated
tufflex with a polyethylene pigm ented skin. F loor

The ce n te r console houses in stru m en ts, con
tro ls , h e a te r, and a i r conditioning components
(if equipped). Quick re le a s e fa ste n e rs re ta in a c
c e s s covers to console and allow easy a c c e s s to
w iring, in stru m en ts, and h e a te r com ponents.
The tinted w indshield is of the tw o-piece
type, retained in cab opening by m eans of a ru b
b e r w e ath erstrip with in s e rt. The door and s le e p
e r com partm ent v e n tila to rs a re retained in cab
and door openings in sam e m anner as w indshield.
The r e a r window(s) is retained with a one-piece
w e ath erstrip without in s e rt.
