2. R em ove attaching p arts holding sh ifter
shaft co lla r (

) to sh ifte r shaft (

), then rem ove
sh ifter shaft co lla r.
3. R em ove 1st and r e v e r s e rock er arm (26)
from housing. R em ove cotter pin from nut (29),
then rem ove nut (29) fro m r e v e r s e latch plunger
(24) re le a sin g spring (28), w asher (27) and plunger
(24).
4. L oosen nut (16) and rem ove s e le c to r le v e r
(18).
5. R em ove snap ring (15) and w asher (14)
from s e le c to r arm and shaft a ssem b ly (

).

. R em ove cap sc r e w (35) and w ash er (34)
from housing.
7. Rotate se le c to r s le e v e and b all assem b ly
(25) away from s e le c to r arm and shaft assem b ly
(
2 2
), then rem ove s e le c t o r s le e v e and ball a s s e m ­
bly fro m housing.

. R em ove se le c to r arm and shaft assem b ly
(22) and sp a cer (23) from housing.
9. R em ove attaching parts that retain shift
le v e r assem b ly (7) to sh ift le v e r mounting bracket
(5), then rem ove sh ift le v e r a ssem b ly .
10. Rem ove attaching p arts that retain shift
le v e r mounting b racket (5) to housing, then rem ove
sh ift le v e r mounting bracket.
C leaning and Inspection
1. Clean a ll m etal p a r ts thoroughly in clea n ­
ing solven t.
2. Check a ll p a rts fo r w ear, distortion, crack s
or other dam age.
3. R eplace a ll p a rts that would affect proper
se le c tio n of tr a n sm issio n g ea rs.
O il S eal R eplacem ent
1. P r e s s or pry o il s e a ls out of rem ote con­
tro l housing.
2. U sing a suitable s le e v e , p r e s s o r drive
new o il s e a l into b ore of housing.
NOTE: Coat outer diam eter of o il s e a l with
a light coat of sea lin g cem ent p rio r to in stallation .

(25) in rem ote control housing (33), then in sta ll
w a sh er (34) and cap sc r e w (35). Tighten sc r e w
firm ly .

(22) and sp a cer (23) in housing, then in sta ll w asher
(14) and snap ring (15).
3. A ssem b le r e v e r s e latch plunger (24), w ash ­
er (27), spring (28), and nut (29) to 1st and r e v e r s e
ro ck er arm (26).
4. Adjust r e v e r s e latch plunger so rounded
end is flu sh or slig h tly below the two fla t ends of
the

s t and r e v e r s e rock er arm a s shown in figu re
7. Secu re adjusting nut in proper p o sitio n with a
co tter pin. In sta ll r e v e r s e latch plunger a ssem b ly
in housing.
5. P o sitio n sh ift fin ger (21) in housing (33);
then in sta ll sh ifter shaft (
1 2
) in housing, aligning
sp lin e s of sh ifter shaft with sp lin e s of s e le c to r
s le e v e and ball a sse m b ly (25), and hole in sh ifter
shaft w ith hole in sh ift fin ger (
2 1
).

. In stall shift fin ger sc r e w (20). Tighten
sc r e w to 25 foot-pounds torque and se c u r e with
lo ck w ir e .
7. In stall attaching p a rts that retain sh ifter
shaft c o lla r (
1 1
) to sh ifte r shaft (
1 2
).

. Install attaching p a rts that hold shift le v e r
a sse m b ly (7) to shift le v e r mounting b racket (5).
Tighten nut to 25-31 foot-pounds torque.
9. In stall attaching p a rts that hold sh ift le v e r
mounting bracket (5) to housing (33). B e su re sh ift
le v e r a ssem b ly (7) is properly sea ted in s lo t of
sh ifte r shaft co lla r (
1 1
).
10. P o sitio n s e le c to r le v e r (18) on s e le c to r
a rm and shaft a ssem b ly (
2 2
), so that the s e le c to r
le v e r is perpendicular to the gasket sid e of the
housing (33). Tighten nut (16) firm ly .
