FRONT WHEEL BEARING
ADJUSTMENT
1. With w heel ra ised and axle sa fely support­
ed, rem ove hubcap, or hub clo su re plate and gasket.
2. R em ove cotter pin secu rin g adjusting nut
to spindle.
3. Back off the adjusting nut sligh tly, then u s­
ing a torque wrench, retighten adjusting nut to 50
foot-pounds torque, at the sa m e tim e turn w h eel in
both d irection s until there is a slig h t bind, to be
su re a ll bearing su r fa c e s a re in contact.
4 . B ack off adjusting nut 1 /6 to 1 /4 turn, or to
the n ea rest co tter pin hole in spindle, or su fficien t­
ly to allow the w heel to rotate fr e e ly within lim its
