2. R efer to "TRANSMISSION ON-VEHICLE
SERVICE OPERATIONS" (SEC 7B) of this manual,
for inform ation on tra n sm issio n rear support
on v e h ic le s so equipped, and disconnect a s n e c e s
sa ry to allow rear end of tra n sm issio n to move
downward. A lso loosen cap b olts at engine rear
mountings (fig.
1 1
).
3. R aise front end of engine to take weight off
front mountings, then rem ove mounting p a rts.
4. If engine front mounting bracket (

) r e
qu ires replacem ent, the pulley and damner m ust
be rem oved f ir s t. When in stallin g bracket, torque
b olts to 85 foot-pounds, and torque damper hub
retaining bolt to 300 foot-pounds.
5. Lubricate mounting cushions with sp e c ia l
rubber lubricant, in se rt the cushions (
2
) through
openings in bracket (
6
), then low er the front of
engine so w eight is on mounting cushions.

. Install b olts and w ash ers a s shown in figure
8
and tighten mounting bolt nuts and rear mounting
cap b olts to torques indicated on "Engine Mounting
B olt Torque Chart."
DI AND F I-90 (WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING)
NOTE: Key num bers in following text refer to
figu re 7.
1. If support bracket (5) req u ires rep lace
m ent, rem ove drive b elts from crankshaft pulley,
then rem ove s ix b olts attaching pulley to crankshaft
and rem ove pulley.
2. R em ove bolts attaching damper to flange
on crankshaft hub, then rem ove damper.
3. Support front of engine and rem ove two
b olts (

) which sec u r e mountings (2) to support (5).
4. R a ise front of engine to rem ove weight
from support and provide clearan ce for rem oving
mountings (
2
).
5. R em ove bolts and w ash ers (9 and 10) which
attach support to cro ssm em b er (
1
), then rem ove
support (5).
6
. Turn mountings (2) counterclockw ise to
thread the mounting studs out of engine co v er , and
rem ove mountings (and sh im s (3), if used).
7. R ev erse the rem oval procedure to in sta ll
new mountings an d /or support, referrin g to "En
gine Mounting B olt Torque Chart" for c o rrect bolt
torque.
NOTE: When installing front mountings (2),
u se sh im s (3) as required to a ssu r e that mounting
studs are tight in engine cover when locating pins
are aligned with locating h oles in support (5).
