MANUAL SELECTOR LINKAGE
ADJUSTMENT (R efer to F ig. 15)
The tr a n sm issio n sh ift control linkage should
fu lly engage a ll tra n sm issio n range p o sitio n s, "R,
N, 3 -6 , 3 -5 , 3 -4 , and 1 -2 ," just b efore the le v e r
h its the "stops" incorporated in the sh ift control
c o v e r . Shift the s e le c to r le v e r through each p o s i­
tion w hile feelin g for full engagem ent in the tra n s­
m issio n . N ote the p osition of the s e le c to r le v e r
after each sh ift. T ra n sm issio n should not engage
"3-6" or "R" (R everse) until s e le c to r le v e r is
co m p letely out of the neutral notch. If le v e r is not
p rop erly located or operating, adjust linkage as
follow s:
1. Locate tr a n sm issio n s e le c to r le v e r (B)
against stop in "3-6" p osition.
2. Check cable for dim ension shown in View
A -A and adjust if n e c e ssa r y . Anchor cab le to
bracket at point (D).
NOTE: Threaded portion of sh ift cable extends

-in ch above to p -sid e of bracket, as shown at
point (D).
3. D iscon n ect c le v is (G) from tr a n sm issio n
manual shift le v e r (H). Anchor cable se c u r e ly at
point (F).
4. L ocate manual shift le v e r (H) in ’’3-6"
p osition (3rd notch from the rea r). Adjust c le v is
(G) fo r fr e e -e n try of c le v is pin through c le v is and
manual sh ift le v e r (H). Then lengthen c le v is (G)
by IVz turns, in sta ll c le v is pin, tighten jam nut, and
se c u r e with co tter pin.
