ASSEMBLY
1. Place button assem bly with in stalle d O -ring
se a l in handle.
2. Locate sp rin g over button shaft, then in sta ll
sp rin g re ta in e r (fig. 17).
DOOR LOCK CYLINDER
REPLACEMENT
(R efer to F igure 18)
REMOVAL
1. Using flat blade sc re w d riv e r, p ry re ta in e r
fro m edge of door a s shown in fig u re 18.
CAUTION:
HOLD ON TO RETAINER WHEN
REMOVING AS RETAINER MAY FLY FROM
POSITION.
2. Remove the lock cy linder from door.
NOTE: C ylinder m ust be ro tate d and tilted
slightly to p e rm it cy lin d er lug to disengage from
lock m echanism stud. Remove lock cylinder gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. With gask et in position on lock cylinder,
in s e rt cylinder into door to engage cy lin d er lug
over lock m echanism stud within door.
2. While holding cy lin d er in door, fo rce the
cy lin d er re ta in e r through slot at edge of door to
engage grooves at side of cylinder body. NOTE: It
may be n e c e ssa ry to d riv e the re ta in e r into final
engagem ent with a light ham m er. Make su re both
le g s of re ta in e r a r e engaged in grooves of lock
cy lin d er. If one of the re ta in e r legs is not engaged,
the r e ta in e r flange w ill not be v e rtic a l in d o o r slot.
DOOR INSIDE HANDLES
REPLACEMENT
NOTE: If rem oving door lock inside handle,
the handle position should- be m arked in re la tio n
to door panel to a s s u re th a t handle is installed
la t e r at the sam e operating angle. See figure 19
which shows p ro p e r handle position.
REMOVAL
1. In s e rt tool (J-9886) between handle flange
and escutcheon p late a s shown in figu re 19.
2. F o rce lock sp rin g fro m grooves in b ase of
door handle. DO NOT LOSE SPRING. Remove
handle and escutcheon p late.
NOTE: The low er view in figu re 19 shows
how the tool engages the clip at u n d ersid e of handle
when rem oving.
INSTALLATION
1. R eplace cork w a sh e r, if damaged.
2. In se rt lock sp rin g in handle grooves fro m
directio n shown in fig u re 19.
3. P la ce the escutcheon p late on handle spindle.
4. If in stalling door lock re le a s e handle, make
s u re handle is in position p reviously m arked on
door in n er p anel. To in stall e ith e r handle, fo rce
handle with in stalle d lock spring- over spindle until
lock sprin g becom es fully engaged.
