SERVICING AIR CLEANERS
R egular s e r v ic in g of the engine a ir clea n ers
is one of the m ost im portant m aintenance ite m s.
N eg lect of th is s e r v ic e not only affects fuel econ
om y, but the perform ance and life of the engine.
IMPORTANT: IN DUST STORM AREAS, AIR
CLEANERS MUST BE SERVICED IMMEDIATELY
AFTER SUCH STORMS OCCUR.

Engine a ir c le a n e rs a r e o il bath type. Follow
the procedure given in ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM
(SEC. 6M) of th is manual, to m aintain air c lea n ers
in se r v ic e a b le condition.
FUEL SYSTEM
Make p eriod ic inspection of fu el filte r s , lin e s ,
and injection units fo r evidence of leak s and dam
a g e. Repair a s n e c e ssa r y . A lso , check operation of
a c c e le ra to r control linkage for fr e e m ovem ent.
Check operation of engine stop m echanism which
m ust function p erfectly .

SYSTEM (SEC. 6M) in th is manual, for detailed
inform ation on fu el filte r s , governor control m ech
an ism and se r v ic in g fu el in jecto rs.
Fuel sy ste m units which require periodic
m aintenance s e r v ic e s are:
1. Engine a ir c le a n er s and fu el filte r s - ca re
m ust be taken when fillin g fu el tank to prevent
entry of dirt and w ater.
2. F uel lin e s and connections - should be in
sp ected regu larly for evidence of lea k s.
