CAB AND BODY MOUNTINGS 1-26
FOOT-OPERATED WINDSHIELD WASHERS
On S e r ie s 90 conventional cab and S e r ie s
90 tilt cab a foot-op erated w indshield w asher
pump is used. On conventional cab m odels the
w ash er pump i s operated by applying foot directly
to w asher pump located on the cab forw ard panel
at the le ft of the ste erin g column. On tilt cab
m odels the w asher pump is operated by stepping
down on the pump bulb located on cab flo o r in front
of steerin g column. The amount of fo rce applied to
eith er type of w asher w ill determ ine the height of
fluid projection on g la s s .
To a lter the direction of liquid flow to eith er
w indshield, p erform the following:
Conventional Cab M odels - In sert a sm a ll
round m etal instrum ent into n o zzle, then gently
m ove the nozzle tip to new p osition.
T ilt Cab M odels - U se the proper s iz e wrench
on hexagonal housing for horizontal directional
adjustm ent. If v ertica l adjustm ent is n e c e ssa r y ,
in se r t a sc r ew d riv er in slo t provided in nozzle,
then gently move n ozzle tip to d esired position .
The w ash er fluid supply r e s e r v o ir i s mounted
in sid e of cab near left kick panel on conventional
cab m od els. On tilt cab m odels the w asher r e s e r
voir is mounted in sid e the cab under the dash, in
front of p a sse n g e r 's se a t. The r e s e r v o ir must be
rem oved fro m it s bracket and taken from under
dash in order to add fluid.
IMPORTANT: Keep r e s e r v o ir full and add
c o r r e ct amount of w asher solven t to prevent f r e e z
ing. Operate w asher pump s e v e r a l str o k e s to be
su re solvent is in lin e s . U se GM OPTIKLEEN a s
d irected .
MAINTENANCE
If w a sh er s fa il to operate p rop erly, check
spray n o z z le s, r e se r v o ir fluid str a in e r , lin e s ,
w ash er valve and foot pump fo r r e str ic tio n s.
W asher com ponents should be flushed with w ater.
If n e c e ssa r y , rep lace foot pump or w ash er valve
if either b eco m es in op erative.
LAP BELT MAINTENANCE
Keep b elts clean and dry. Clean p eriod ically
with a m ild soap solution and lukewarm w ater.
Keep sharp edges and damaging objects away from
b e lts . P e rio d ic a lly inspect b e lts, buckles, r e tr a c
to r s , and anchors fo r damage that could m aterially
le s s e n the e ffe ctiv en ess of the b elt installation and
rep air or rep lace the questionable p a rts. Do not
b leach or dye b elts as th is may cau se s e v e r e lo s s
of strength.
If n e c e ssa r y , to rep lace b elts or related a t
taching p a rts be su re to tighten lap b elt anchor
b o lts to 55-65 foot-pounds torque.
NOTE The lap b elt fa ste n e r s a r e im portant
attaching parts in that they could affect the p e r
form ance of vital com ponents and s y s te m s , an d /or
could resu lt in m ajor rep air exp en se. They must
b e rep laced with one of the sa m e part number or
with an equivalent part if replacem ent b eco m es
n e c e s s a r y . Do not u se a rep lacem en t part of l e s s e r
quality or sub stitu te design. Torque valu es must
be u sed a s sp e c ifie d above to a ssu r e proper r e
tention of th is part.
