RADIATOR AND SURGE TANK 13-10
Rem oval
1. Shut off air supply to air cylinder by c lo s ­
ing shut-off cock at p r e ssu r e tank.
2. D isconnect air lin e fitting at low er end of
a ir cylinder, at right sid e of shutter.
3. Rem ove cap sc rew at base of cylinder
cover, then rem ove cover. Rem ove C -w ash erfrom
end of control bar stud.
4. Rem ove a ir cylinder by pulling outward at
b a se , w hile sliding upper eye off control bar stud.
Installation
Install air cylinder, by reversin g the "Re­
moval" procedure. Inspect sy stem for lea k s, and
proper operation when com pleted.
TV 70 AIR CYLINDER
Removal
1. C lo se off air p ressu r e by closin g shut-off
valve located on inside of right-hand fram e ra il.
2. Dipconnect a ir supply line at upper end of
a ir cylinder.
3. R em ove cotter pin and two (2) cap sc rew s
retaining a ir cylinder to shutter assem b ly.
4. Rem ove a ir cylinder by pulling outward at
b a se, w hile sliding upper eye off shutter control
pin.
D isa ssem b ly
NOTE: Key num bers r e fe r to figu re 10.
1. Mark cylinder heads (1 and9), cylinder (23),
and mounting bracket (
2 1
) to ensure origin al p o s i­
tion of parts when assem b led la ter.
2. U n less control rod assem b ly (18) is to be
replaced, do not reposition adjusting nuts (17) and,
leave control rod attached to b e ll crank (15).
3. R em ove nuts (10) from four bolts (2) which
hold cylinder assem b ly together. Separate cylinder
heads and pull piston assem b ly from cylinder (23).
4. Rem ove se a l ring (3).
5. Rem ove nut (25) and w asher (24) from
piston rod (7), then rem ove piston follow er (26),
piston cup (4), and piston (

) from piston rod (7).

. Rem ove piston felt (5) from piston.
7. R em ove return spring (

) from piston rod.

. Separate rod and pin assem b ly (14) from
b ell crank (15). Rotate b ell crank, then rem ove
piston rod and rod end assem b ly from cylinder
head (9).
9. Rem ove retainer (12), dust cap (19), felt
(

) and w asher (

) from cylinder head.
Cleaning and Inspection
1. Wash a ll p arts in a cleaning solvent and
