SYSTEM BLEEDING PROCEDURE (F ig. 12)
1. Connect a ll hydraulic lin e s to pump and
cylin der.
NOTE: U se sealin g compound on a ll pipe
th re a d s befo re asse m b ly .
2. F irm ly tighten a ll connections except the
two (2) a t the tilt cy lind er and one (1) each at
r e a r cab mounting hydraulic latch e s. Connections
should be tightened snugly a s they w ill be loosened
la te r . Lines at tilt cylin der should be bled f ir s t;
lin es a t h ydraulic la tc h e s w ill be bled la s t.
3. Remove pump fille r plug and fill pump
r e s e r v o ir with sp ec ia l h ydraulic o il (M IL-H -
5606A specification) until o il flows fro m r e s e r ­
v o ir standpipe.
NOTE: DO NOT fill r e s e r v o ir through r e ­
lief vent plug opening.
4. Loosen connection 1 /4 -tu rn a t tilt cylinder
pull p o rt (rod end of tilt cylinder).
5. P lace con tro l valve pump le v e r in "D N ”
position and slowly actu ate pump handle until
a i r - f r e e oil flows fro m lo ose connection a t tilt
cy lin d er. Tighten connection firm ly .
6. F ill pump r e s e r v o ir until o il flows from
standpipe.
7. Loosen connection 1 /4 -tu rn a t tilt cy lin der
push p o rt (base end of tilt cylind er).
8. P lace co ntro l valve pump le v e r in " U P ”
p osition and slowly actuate pump handle until
a i r - f r e e oil flows fro m loose connection a t tilt
cy lin d er. Tighten connection firm ly .

3. To re a ss e m b le in s ta ll co m p re ssio n p late
(com plete with latching arm ) in body, then spring,
ten sio n p la te and mount th is assem bly in la rg e
v ise to c o m p re ss spring.
4. C om p ress sp rin g carefu lly until two bolts
and nuts can be in stalled . G radually co m p re ss
sp rin g and tighten nuts until tension sp rin g p late
is tight ag ain st body.
5. In sta ll on vehicle a s d escrib ed under cab
lock assem b ly rep lacem en t.
