on radiator sh e ll. Tighten a ll attaching to proper

3. In stall radiator sh e ll and radiator core
a ssem b ly a s d escrib ed in SHEET METAL AND
FIBERGLASS (SEC. 11) of this manual.
4. B efore starting v eh icle when checking for
le a k s in cooling sy ste m be su re fan shroud c le a r s
the engine fan. If in terferen ce ex ists it may be
n e c e ssa r y to readjust front end sh eet m etal and

addition check for deteriorated engine mounts.
CONVENTIONAL CAB MODELS.

1. Gain a c c e s s to radiator c o r e a s follow s:
a . F ib e r g la ss Hood - T ilt the hood assem b ly
forw ard.
b. Sheet Metal Hood - R em ove the hood a s
sem bly as d escrib ed in SHEET METAL AND
FIBERGLASS (SEC. 11) of th is manual.
2. Drain radiator. D isconnect lin e s and drain
o il c o o ler. D isconnect all coolant h o ses and oil
lin e s fro m radiator co re a ssem b ly .
3. If v eh icle is equipped with a ir conditioning
or pow er steerin g , rem ove cooling c o ils from
radiator. In addition, rem ove pow er steerin g r e s
erv o ir and receiver-d eh yd rator if attached to
radiator.
4 . R em ove fan shroud attaching b olts, then
lay shroud back over fan blade.
5. R em ove upper nut, w ash er, and insulator
from each radiator sta b iliz e r rod (s e e fig . 4).
NOTE: Do not move low er nut or adjusting
nut on either sta b iliz e r rod.

. Attach a lifting slin g o r chain to each rad
iator upper mounting bracket (5, fig. 4).
7. With a chainfall supporting radiator (using
slin g or chain) rem ove attaching p a rts retaining
trunnion mounting b rackets to fra m e. R a ise core
slig h tly and rem ove trunnion type mounting b rac
k ets. C arefully lift radiator assem b ly from v eh icle.
Installation (F ig. 3)
1. Using a chainfall and slin g (attached to
radiator upper mounting brackets) carefully lift
radiator a ssem b ly into p osition in v eh icle.
2. Install trunnion brackets with rubber in su l
ator, w asher, and sp a cer to radiator co re trun
n ions. Attach each bracket to fram e with two b olts,
w a sh e r s, and nuts. Tighten nuts to 4 0 -5 0 foot
pounds torque.
3. If n e c e ssa r y to center radiator, r e fe r to
"Radiator to Fram e C learance Adjustment" c o v e r
ed la ter in th is section .
4. Install upper insulator, w asher, and nut on
each radiator sta b ilize r rod. Tighten upper nut
on each rod s e c u r e ly . P roper angularity of rad
iator i s shown in figu re 4.
5. In stall fan shroud.

cooling c o ils , power ste erin g r e s e r v o ir , and r e -
ceiver-d eh yd rator (if rem oved).
7. Connect a ll coolant h o ses and o il lin e s to
radiator core assem b ly .

. B e sure h o se s, lin e s, b ra ck ets, or fan
shroud w ill not in terfer e with operation of fan.
