6. Remove C -clam p fro m ra d iu s leaf, low er
vehicle, and in sta ll rebound pin at fron t and r e a r
h angers.
On a ll s te e l tilt m odels in sta ll r e
bound pins with lock groove flush with su rfa ce
of b ra c k e ts, in sta ll locks, and se c u re with lock
bolt.
Bend tab of lock over flat of retain in g
bolt. On o th er m odels, drive rebound pin in flush
with b ra ck et su rfa c e , then hook re ta in e r o v er edge
of b ra c k e ts and in s ta ll bolt and lock w a sh e r to s e
c u re each re ta in e r (fig. 2).
7. On v ehicles using shock a b s o rb e rs , con
nect low er end of shock a b s o rb e r b ra c k e t and
tighten nuts to torq ue lis te d in "Specifications" at
end of th is section.
8. On o ther m odels using pins, in sta ll fitting
and lu b ric a te ra d iu s leaf anchor pin. R efe r to
LUBRICATION (SEC. 0) in th is manual, fo r type
of lu b rica n t.
9. Remove blocking and low er fra m e to place
weight on sp rin g s. Check U -bolt nuts fo r p ro p e r
to rq u e. R efe r to "Specifications" at end of th is
s ec tio n fo r torque.

REMOVAL (Fig. 6)
1. Jack up vehicle fra m e so that forw ard,
hooked end of sp rin g leaf touches rebound stop
pin.
2. Rem ove sp rin g eye pin clam p bolts.
3. C o m press ra d iu s leaf with a heavy duty
C -clam p to re lie v e ten sio n of ra d iu s leaf on eye
pin, then rem o ve lu b ricatio n fitting fro m pin.
4. In stall ad a p te r (J-8118) into lu brication
fitting hole in end of ra d iu s leaf pin and use slide
ham m er to w ithdraw ra d iu s leaf pin (fig. 4).
NOTE: It may be n e c e s sa ry to d riv e rad iu s
leaf pin out with a d rift and ham m er.
