LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
SERIES 70-80
NOTE: Key num bers in text r efer to figu re 1.
1. P la c e tr a n sm issio n se le c to r and shift le v e r s
(9) in "NEUTRAL" position .
2. Adjust se le c to r and sh ift rods (

) to provide
90° angularity at the low er end of the g ea rsh ift
le v e r (
1
) to the control isla n d panel (
2
) a s shown.
NOTE:
On Model TM80A with C lark 387V
tra n sm issio n the angularity between the gearsh ift
le v e r (
1
) and control islan d panel (
2
) after adjust
ment should be 9 8° 30’ .
Adjustment is accom plished by rotating the
adjustable c le v is (se e In set, fig . 1) at eith er the
control islan d or tr a n sm issio n end of the s e le c to r
and sh ift rods (
8
). Tighten lo ck nuts se c u r e ly .
3. Check adjustm ent by moving gearsh ift
le v e r through the sh ift pattern. T h ere m ust be no
binding in the linkage.
NOTE: At the ex trem e se le c to r and shift m ove
m en ts, c le v is p in s should rotate fr e e ly . R e-adjust
linkage, if n e c e ssa r y , to obtain th ese conditions.
4. R eplace any worn or damaged co tter p in s.
5. Lubricate control linkage a s d escrib ed in
LUBRICATION (SEC. 0) of th is manual.
SERIES 90
O n e -P ie c e Shift Rod (F ig. 2)
1. R em ove lock w ire from u n iv ersa l joint s e t
sc r e w at both ends of the sh ift rod.
2. L oosen se tsc r e w at each u n iversal joint.
3. L ocate the shift control rod on the rem ote
control a ssem b ly (at the tran sm ission ) in neutral
p o sitio n .
4. With the gea rsh ift le v e r held perpendicular
(90°) to the control islan d sh ift m echanism as
shown by an a ssista n t, adjust the position of both
u n iv ersa l join ts on the sh ift rod to retain the above
mentioned conditions.
