RUNNING IN OF THE BRAKES
This is required so as to obtain the best braking efficiency.
IMPORTANT!
The running in must be carried out with the round baler at full load.
1st phase - Adaptation:
Perform approximately 20 brakes (cold) with an average force on the levers (about 8-10% of the total load on the
axles).
This phase is necessary to adapt the brake linings to the drum for a perfect fit.
2nd phase - Heating:
Hold the round baler with force on the levers of about 6-7% of the total load on the axle and drive the machine for
a distance according to the table below.
Hold the round baler with force on the levers of about
6-7% of the total load on the axle and drive the machine
for a distance according to the table.
After this phase, the drum will have to have an external
temperature of about 400 °C (752 °F).
Speed (km/h)
Distance
15
3100 mt (10170ft 7.24in)
20
2500 mt (8202ft 1.19in)
30
1950 mt (6397ft 7.65in)
40
1700 mt (5577ft 5.13in)
If the drum is still too cold, the heating phase must be prolonged.
This phase is necessary to eliminate residual gas from being produced on the brake lining and to create a black
powder surface that will help increase friction.
If the drum is disassembled, do not remove this dust.
Proceed with about 5 sudden brake strokes.
2rd phase - Cooling:
Let the brakes of the round baler rest until a normal drum temperature is reached, or until the drum reaches a
temperature of about 50-60 °C (122-140 °F).
