Installing SmartPAC 2 and WPC
Set Up High Speed Version of SmartPAC 2 with
WPC (Optional)
If you have a standard SmartPAC 2 with WPC and wish to change the system to a high speed
version (1600 SPM maximum), follow the steps below. If you have any difficulty, call
Wintriss Tech Support..
1.
Contact the factory to order SmartPAC 2 firmware with the high speed option. Install
this firmware as instructed in Appendix C – Update SmartPAC 2 Firmware.
2.
Move the SmartPAC 2 jumper JP102 to the “High” position. (See Figure A at the end of
this manual.)
3.
See Figure 2 - 36, page 159, for the location of the jumpers J111 and J112 on the WPC
processor board. Notice that the jumpers is set on pins 1 and 2 (for “Low” speed).
4.
Move the jumper to pins 2 and 3 (for “High” speed).
Wiring Setup Mode Circuit
Setup mode allows you to disable green sensors and disable parts/batch counters using a
remote switch. Typically the setup mode circuit is enabled when the “Inch” mode is selected
on your clutch/brake control. Then when you inch the press, SmartPAC 2 will not stop the
press when a fault condition is detected and will not count parts. The setup mode terminal,
Pin #252 on TB107, can be wired to an extra contact on the inch position of the stroke
selector switch of your press control, or you can use an external switch to activate the circuit.
If you plan to use the setup mode circuit, plan how you will run your wiring for this
connector now so you do not have to disconnect conduit or rerun wires through conduit later.
Wiring a Sensor-Disabled Output (Optional)
You can wire a sensor-disabled output to a customer-supplied solid-state relay. This output
can be used to warn personnel that the die protection capability (if installed) is disabled. You
might connect this relay to a warning light, for instance. Connect the positive input wire
from your 12 VDC solid-state relay to DiProPAC TB550, terminal 302 (relay power).
Connect the negative input wire from this relay to DiProPAC TB550 terminal 306
(auxiliary 1). You cannot use more than 8 mA for your relay.
