Windsor 500 Programming Manual - Issue C

Battery Test

Windsor  can  be  programmed  to  test  the  battery  before  setting,  after  unsetting  or  at
programmed  intervals.  During  the  battery  test  the  power  supply  voltage  is  reduced  to
approximately 10.7 volts and Windsor is powered only from the battery. During the battery test
Windsor will wait for a 10 seconds settling period and then measure the battery voltage. If the
battery  voltage  is  below  11.7  volts  a  battery  test  fail  is  logged.  Windsor  will  not  attempt  a
battery test if there is no mains supply present.

There is no requirement to fit the battery monitor PCB to the PSU in order to test the battery.
This PCB is only required if an external indication of battery condition is required.

To view or modify the battery test options select option 7 from page 1 of the edit menus.

There are 5 battery test menu options.

Set-Off
Unset-Off
Bleeper-Off
Log-Off

There is also a programmable battery test fail TX channel (see Comms/TX/System/Battery
Test).

Battery Test
Period-00

0-24 hours

The battery test can be selected to operate at any interval in the range 1-24 hours, in 1 hour
steps. If you do not want the battery to be tested program 0. This will not effect the normal
supply monitoring.

Battery Test
Set-Off

On/Off

Windsor can be programmed to test the battery before setting. This option is independent of
the timed battery test. If this option is programmed there will be a 10 second delay while the
battery is tested when set is requested.

Unset-Off

On/off

Windsor can be programmed to test the battery after unsetting. This option is independent of
the timed battery test. If this option is programmed there will be a 10 second delay while the
battery is tested when an area is unset.

Battery Test
Bleeper-Off

On/Off

Select this option if you require an audible indication on the keypad bleepers when the battery
test fails.

Battery Test
Log-Off

On/Off

Select this option if you require battery test fails to be logged in the alarm log. This will prevent
Windsor from setting if there is a battery fault. A logged battery test fail can only be reset after
a successful battery test. This can only happen if a good battery is fitted.
