Windsor 500 Programming Manual - Issue C

Defaults

The defaults menu will only be displayed if the engineer PIN code is the first PIN code to be
entered after power up. To default the configuration select option 0 from page 1 of the edit
menus.

1=Config
2=Text

There are 5 default menu options.

3=User PINs
4=Eng PIN
5=PIN of Day Key

When a default option is selected Windsor will display the following message;

On a Windsor mark 1 pressing any key during this time will clear

Please Wait ...

the message but the configuration will be defaulted. On
Windsor 500, fitted with an EEPROM, key presses will be
ignored until the configuration is defaulted.

Defaulting an EEPROM on a Windsor 500 will take approximately 30 seconds.

Windsor can also be defaulted by powering up with I/P2 (CON2

) connected to 0 volts or by

connecting CON13-2

to 12 volts. When the time/date appears on a keypad the configuration

will have been defaulted. The 0 or 12 volt connection must then be removed otherwise all
subsequent changes to the configuration will not be saved. In v3.00 only the configuration will
be defaulted, in earlier versions the configuration and the logs will be defaulted. When the
configuration is defaulted a “Restored PIN(s)” entry is made in the event log.

The configuration option will default all configuration except the text descriptors and the PIN
codes.

Text

The text option will default the text descriptors for circuits, users, areas, bypass groups and
the company name.

User PINs

The user PINs option will default all user identification codes, except the engineer PIN code, to
the default PIN codes. All users identified by a SmartKey or INOVA card will also be set to the
default PIN code, thereby rendering the programmed electronic keys and INOVA cards invalid.
When the PIN codes are defaulted a “Restored PIN(s)” entry is made in the event log.

The engineer PIN code option is only available when the PIN of the day option is off. When the
engineer PIN code is defaulted a “Restored PIN(s)” entry is made in the event log.
