Connection panel (variant with LAN Routing Unit, LRU [redundancy package])
For operating the DIB-500 R4.1 with more than four carriers, the terminal area and the
LRU including the top hat rail power supply unit form a modular unit.
Figure 3.14 shows the front view of the connection panel with the LRU installed includ-
ing the power supply unit. The associated table describes the additional components in
detail.

LAN Routing Unit (LRU)
For the variants of the DIB-500 R4.1 with more than four carriers, the LRU hardware
component ensures the communication between the TIB modules integrated in the two
equipment cabinets. The LRU switches the TIB modules together via Ethernet. All the
connections of the LRU are operated in full duplex.
The TIB modules are connected in the form of a ring via Ethernet. The connection is
made from the first to the second and from the second to the third TIB module etc. This
connection serves as a protection against a failure of the entire radio coverage when
one of the TIB modules fails (apart from the first TIB module).
