Optional Network Interfaces
In addition to the three standard interfaces—parallel, serial, and
LocalTalk—the QMS 1060 Print System has the option of using up to
two Ethernet or Token-Ring network interfaces. These additional
interfaces allow greater flexibility when working in a complex network
environment.
An optional network interface may be installed in either of the two
optional network interface openings on the back of the printer. These
openings are to the left of the other interface ports and are covered
with a rectangular metal plate.
The printer’s simultaneous interface operation (SIO) allows the
optional network interfaces to be active at the same time as the other
ports. In other words, your printer can communicate through up to five
ports with five host computers or computer networks. One host can
interface through the parallel port, one through the serial port, one
through the LocalTalk port, and two through the optional interface
ports. See your QMS vendor for a list of optional network interfaces
available.
