Setting Up Raw Jobs
A raw job is a file you want to print directly to the copier without using
either of the printer drivers (PCL or PSL). When printing from an
application, the print command sends the job to the driver. The driver
processes the job creating PCL or PSL commands understood by the
target printer.
If a document already contains the PCL or PSL commands, you can send
it directly to the controller. This is a common practice in AS400, Unix,
and service bureau environments.
For example, printing to a file using the printer driver instead of printing
to the physical device creates a PostScript- or PCL-ready document. To
send this document to the printer you could use the MS-DOS copy
command, for example:
copy test.txt \\twriter20\dssc
This command sends the raw file
test.txt
directly to a controller
identified as
twriter20
in the
dssc
queue.
