There are two ways to update the operating system:
„
Boot the controller from the ipc1-im8130 Recovery CD-ROM .
„
Perform an
OS U
PDATE
from the copier control panel. This is the
recommended method of updating the OS software. The controller
performs a backup operation and saves the administrator password,
network settings, scan templates, address book, and other settings
which are then restored following the update.
This section provides procedures for performing each method of operating
system update.
Update from the ipc1-im8130 Recovery CD-ROM
1 Power up the system if it is not already running.
2 Immediately insert the ipc1-im8130 Recovery CD-ROM into the drive.
If the controller was already up, reboot it. The flashing light on the
CD-ROM drive indicates the controller is trying to boot off of the CD.
If this light does not flash, leave the CD in the drive and reboot the
controller.
3 Check the LCD touch screen on the copier. It displays the following
message as the controller boots off of the CD-ROM:
Starting
controller. Please wait.
4 When the controller finishes booting up, a process that takes almost
three minutes, the

screen opens:

If this screen does not open, the controller did not boot from the CD
successfully.
5 Press
OK
to continue. The controller begins copying the software from
the CD to the hard drive. This process takes approximately five
