Current Status
To determine the current status of these options, you may enter the
special code 100. This prints a page indicating the current status of each
feature. This code does not require a reboot.
Master Browser Service
This is a component of the operating system and it is turned off by
default. The browser service maintains a list of the domain name or
workgroup name the computer is in, and the protocol being used for each
computer on the network segment being served by the computer running
the browser service. The browser on a given network segment provides a
browse list to the client computers located in the same segment. Although
it is unlikely for a controller to become the host of the browse list, even
when the feature is turned on, it is recommended that the service not be
used. An additional benefit of turning it off is reduced network traffic.
Server Service
This is a component of the operating system and it is turned on by
default. The following are the effects on system operation when this
service is disabled:
Shutting down the server service shuts down the browser service as
well
The controller cannot be seen as a device when browsing the network
