Workgroup Name
You cannot assign the controller to a Microsoft Domain. You must assign
it to a workgroup. Both Microsoft print services and controller software
updates require the workgroup name.
By default, the workgroup name is
WORKGROUP
. However, you can change
it to retain consistency within your network. Choose a name of up to 15
alphanumeric characters.
Analyze the Default Controller Network Settings
The following table summarizes the default controller settings. To adjust
these settings locally use the copier control panel. To adjust them
remotely, use Printer Utility.

TCP/IP
(Ethernet) Enabled Frame Type set to Ethernet II.
IP Addressing DHCP If you do not want to take advantage of your
network DHCP services, change IP Addressing to
Manual
and enter the IP Address either locally or
remotely.
Gateway [blank] Specify the Gateway address if TCP/IP is enabled
and IP Addressing is set to
Manual
. Otherwise, use
DHCP to set the Gateway address.
Subnet Mask 255.0.0.0 Specify the Subnet Mask address if TCP/IP is
enabled and IP Addressing is set to
Manual
.
Otherwise, use DHCP to set the Subnet Mask
address.
Primary WINS [blank] DHCP sets the primary WINS address or you can
do it manually.
Microsoft Device
Name GL< MAC Address > < MAC Address > is the unique media access
control address of the NIC installed in the
controller. The Microsoft Device Name is
mandatory. It is used for both Microsoft and
Macintosh print services.
