3-38 Start-Up and Operation

ROSIN - O/A
CASCADING
The Aquastorm 200
™
is designed to operate in
either Rosin or O/A configurations for Rosin
Flux cleaning applications or Organic Acid Flux
cleaning applications, by simply opening and
closing certain cascade valves.
Ensure power is off at the system disconnect and
tagged out. Drain system tanks prior to
performing the Rosin Cascade Setup or the
O/A Cascade Setup procedures to prevent the
system from being inadvertently started up while
making the necessary changes.
WARNING Hot Surfaces/ Burn Hazard
Allow hot plumbing to cool prior to
performing the procedures in 3.1 or
3.2 whenever possible. These
components operate at temperatures
up to 60 - 71
o C (140 - 160 o F). If it is
necessary to work on hot components,
always use extreme caution and wear
the safety garments recommended for
use with hot components at these
temperatures.
3.1 ROSIN CASCADE SETUP
When cleaning using saponifiers for Rosin flux
applications it is most important to keep
chemicals segregated. Open and or close the
specified cascade pipe ball valves outlined in this
procedure for Rosin cleaning applications.
Go to the rear prewash section and locate the
two (2) valves coming from prewash. One (1) goes
directly to drain, controlled via a ball valve. The
other permits prewash to cascade back to
recirculating wash tank, also controlled via a ball
valve.
Turn the ball valve on the prewash pipe going
directly to drain to the CLOSED position to
prevent prewash from going directly to drain.
Turn the ball valve on the prewash cascade pipe
going to the recirculating wash tank to the OPEN
position permit cascading to occur.
Go to the rear recirculating rinse section and
locate the cascade pipe going from the
recirculating rinse tank to the recirculating wash
tank. Turn the ball valve located on this cascade
pipe to the CLOSED position. This prevents
cascading from occurring, keeping saponifier
solutions separate.
If the Aquastorm 200
™
is configured with the
optional Enhanced Chemical Isolation tank,
locate the cascade pipe from the recirculating
rinse tank to the Chemical Isolation tank and
turn the ball valve to a SLIGHTLY OPEN
position.
