If there is no backlash (less than 0.2 mm) between the eye and the upper sheet in the

eye fixing bolt area, repair or replace the eye (both front spring of 4x4 and 6x6 trucks and rear
spring of 4x4 trucks).

When mounting rear spring for a truck with 4x4 wheel arrangement after repair or replace-

ment, pay special attention to spring stud proper fixation. Mount the seal 27 between the spring
bracket 1 and the lid 33 from rear bolt 28 side, see Figure 70.

CAUTION!

DO NOT MOUNT SEALS ON THE FRONT BOLT 29 SIDE.

Before mounting the bolts 28, 29 lubricate their threads with УГ

-

6 sealer (“Loctite-243”,

“Loctite-262”, “Anakrol-202,” or “Fixator-6” are allowed).

Fasten the bolts 28 with 180-220 Nm (18-22 kgfm) torque, under which the seal 27 is

mounted, and then fasten bolts 29. Bolts 28 and 29 fastening in another sequence is forbidden.

There must be a backlash between spring bracket 1 and the lid 33 from bolt 29 side within

1-2 mm, that will guarantee joint efficiency. When rear spring first sheet ends of 6x6 trucks are half
worn, swap first and second sheets. Do not swap the sheets of the spring of the truck having over
12000 kgf load on the rear bogie.

To remove u-bolts 2 (see Figure 69) of rear springs at 6x6 trucks, jack the truck without

disconnecting the torque arms, put the support under the equalizing beam axle 18 or under the frame.
Unscrew u-bolt 4 nuts and remove spring clamp plates 3. Lower the truck to the support so that there
is backlash between the spring 1 and the equalizing beam 23. Turn the equalizing beam for a small
angle and remove the u-bolt.

With each equalizing beam boss disassembly remove the old grease, mud and corrosion

traces. Replace worn parts (equalizing beam bushings 27, protection rings 11), if necessary. When
assembling the equalizing beam boss, fill g cavities under the protection ring 11 edges with Litol-24,
put the equalizing beam in its place, dry clean and lubricate retaining nut 24 thread of the equalizing
beam and the balance shaft with УГ-6 sealer (“Loctite-243”, “Loctite-262”, “Anakrol-202,” or “Fix-
ator-6” are allowed). Fasten the nut 24 with 80 Nm (8 kgfm) torque, and then unfasten it

torque

back. Sealer leakage to the backlash between the retaining nut 24 butt ends of the equalizing beam
and the equalizing beam bushing is forbidden. Fasten the tie bolt 26 with 44-56 Nm torque (4.4-5.6
kgfm).

Lubricate the equalizing beam bosses with Litol-24 by injecting it through the oil cup 22 ac-

cording to the Lubricants and Hydraulic Fluids Charts. Inject the grease until it appears from the pro-
tection ring 11.

When assembling lubricate bolt 14 thread and threaded holes of the equalizing beam brack-

ets with УГ-6 sealer (“Loctite-243”, “Loctite-262”, “Anakrol-202,” or “Fixator-6” are allowed).
