4.3.2.4 Rear suspension of 4х4 trucks
consists of two main 9 and two auxiliary springs 3,
see Figure 70. Eye fixation to the spring sheets and spring fixation to the frame of the front and rear
suspensions are similar. Unlike the front spring, rear spring eye stud 20 of rear spring is fixed by re-
movable lids 33. Axle upstroke is restricted by buffer 15 fastened to the bottom spar cap. Axle down
stroke is restricted by coupling of third spring sheet bent ends with the distance pieces 18 mounted on
the bolts 19. Rear suspension shock absorbers are similar to front suspension shock absorbers.
4.3.2.5 Maintenance.
Suspension maintenance consists in lubricating the parts and
assembly units, adjusting and checking their fixation. Loosening of suspension bolt joints is
forbidden.
To prevent cut of front spring centre bolt and fixing pins in rear suspension equalizing
beams, as well as early breakage of front and rear springs, fasten u-bolt nuts of front springs at 6x6
and 4x4 trucks and rear springs of 4x4 loaded trucks and rear spring u-bolt nuts of 6x6 unloaded
trucks on time. If the springs start squeal, lift the truck by the frame, and lubricate the backlashes ap-
peared between the sheets. With each spring disassembly grease the sheets, preliminary removing the
old grease, mud and corrosion traces. Clean and lubricate spring eyes and studs.
When assembling, lubricate the u-bolt threads of front and rear springs by graphite lubricant
or TSgip-type lubricant.
Fasten spring u-bolt nuts according to Figure 71:
- front springs (loaded trucks): first with 200-250 Nm (20-25 kgfm) torque, then finally with
400-500 Nm (40-50 kgfm) torque;
- rear springs of 6x6 trucks (unloaded) and 4x4 trucks (loaded): first with 250-300 Nm (25-
30 kgfm) torque, then finally with 580-660 Nm (58-66 kgfm) torque;
1-Spring; 2-rear spring clamp plate of 6x6 truck (front axle beam collar of 6x6, 4x4 trucks, rear axle beam
bracket of 4x4 truck); I-IV-u-bolt nuts fastening scheme
Figure 71 - Spring U-Bolt Nuts Fastening Scheme
Fasten the front spring eye retaining nuts of 4x4 and 6x6 trucks and rear spring of 4x4
trucks as follows: first fasten eye fixing bolt nut with 400-500 Nm (40-50 kgfm) torque, then fasten
eye fixing u-bolt nuts on one branch with 100-140 Nm (10-14 kgfm), then the nut on the second
branch with 180-220 Nm (18-22 kgfm) torque and fasten again the first nut with the same torque. Vi-
olation of nut fastening scheme can lead to deformation of the trim and eye u-bolts.
