-  do not decrease the inflation pressure of tires. Tractor units operation during the first 

1500-3000 km of mileage provide on the roads with hard surface with the semi-trailer gross mass 
no more than 12 tones, 

After  1500-3000  km  of  mileage  (50-100  hours  of  engine  performance)  implement  the 

works, specified in the paragraph “Maintenance”. Maintenance during the initial period of opera-
tion. 

 

6.4 Truck Breaking In Truck Driving 

 

Accurate truck driving is one of the most important conditions, which prolongs its oper-

ating life and faultless performance, and also allows to achieve the high middle driving speed with 
minimum fuel.  

Successful passing of the tough road is possible only with the skilled control of all truck 

units. On soft ground, raw meadows, virgin snow and sandy surfaces movement shall be smooth, 
without hitches, skidding and stops. Small snowdrifts and short lifts shall be passed with accelera-
tion. 

On  especially  difficult  areas  (snow,  mud,  soft  ground,  sand  and  etc.),  if  necessary,  de-

crease  the  inflation  pressure  of  tires  up  to  the  definite  range,  which  corresponds  to  the  best  off-
road  performance  at  the  given  area,  and  lock  the  differential  of  the  transfer  Box,  as 

leading 

wheels  slipping  upon  loosing  the  truck  mobility  or  driving  with  wheels  slipping  with  un-
locked differential leads to the intensive wear-out of the transfer box differential and tires.  

In case of heavy turning-on or turning-off of differential locks

 

and gear shifting of 

the transfer box

 

it is necessary to push the truck (back and forward) and repeat the process 

of shifting.

 

When passing the tough road with the possible truck slipping, the cross-axle differential 

of the rear trailer shall be locked. The cross-axle differential lock increases the off-road perfor-
mance of the truck. With that it shall be preliminary turned on before passing the tough road area, 
but not at the moment when the truck has already lost its mobility. 

Locking shall be implemented after full stoppage of truck wheels. The cross-axle differ-

ential lock upon truck movement with speed no higher than 5 km/h considering the absence of the 
wheels slipping. After turning the locking off it is necessary to make sure of full actuation of the 
lockout mechanism, with that the indicator 21 shall light up in accordance with figure 25 and the 
indicator  25  in  accordance  with  figure  32.  Partial  engagement  of  the  lockout  mechanism  could 
lead to gearbox destruction. 

After passing the tough road it is necessary to turn off the differential locks switch 

of the rear trailer and make sure of turning the clutch off (indicator shall blink off). 

The  cross-axle  differential  lock  is  allowed  only  in  exceptional  circumstances,  when  the 

other measures for increasing of off-road performance are taken (necessary tire pressure is estab-
lished, differential locks of the transfer box is turned on). 

In other cases of movement if the wheel slipping is absent, unlock the differential of the 

transfer box in order to avoid extra pressure in the transmission. Select the low gear in the transfer 
box when passing tough roads and also rapid scents. 

Select gears of transfer box only after full stop of the truck, and do not turn on neu-

tral  gear  of  the  transfer  box,  when  the  gear  box  is  turned  on  and,  when  box  of  auxiliary 
power takeoff is turned off upon the

 

working engine without truck movement.
