4.5.4.2 Parking brake relay valve

is shown in Figure 110. Compressed air from the air

tank is fed to outlet IV. Outlet I is connected with emergency and parking brake valve; outlet II -
with spring-type brake actuators. Control pressure from the primary brake system. Herein, air
from parking brake system tank is fed to brake actuators.

When actuating primary brakes, parking brake system is locked.

If there is no pressure at outlet I, piston 3 is up. Inlet valve 5 is close by spring force, and

discharge valve 4 is open. Spring-type brake actuators are connected with the environment
through outlet III and open discharge valve and outlet II. The truck is braked by spring-type brake
actuators. If the truck is herein braked by primary brake system, pressure from brake valve is fed
to outlet V, which moves its together with piston 3 downwards impacting the piston 2. Herein,
discharge valve 4 closes and discharge valve 5 opens. The primary brake is protected from force
coming from primary brake diaphragm and brake actuator spring.

4.5.4.3 Check valve

is shown in Figure 111. When compressed air is fed to outlet I the

valve 2 overcoming spring 3 force, opens and that ensures compressed air flow to outlet II. When
pressure at outlet I drops, valve 2 seats into housing 1 by the spring 3 force and pressure differ-
ence at outlets II and I. Reverse compressed air flow from outlet II to outlet I becomes impossible.
