The indicator flashes when low speed is switched on. When switching on neutral, the indi-

cator with 

 symbol flashes. When releasing the button, solenoid valves switch off, and the actu-

ated gear is maintained with spring ball clamper13 (see figure 51). 

Neutral is switched on, when both solenoid valves “B” and “C” are actuated (see figure 52) 

and neutral piston 9 moves (see figure 51) against stop to the bushing rim 7, and piston 22 moves 
against  stop  of  piston  10  to  the  neutral  piston  9.  Low  speed  is  switched  on  when  the  piston  10 
moves against stop to the part 25. High speed is  switched on when the piston 22 moves against 
stop of the piston 10 to the neutral piston 9. 

On the trucks equipped with the additional power takeoff neutral speed is switched on after 

switching  on  the  power  takeoff  only.  For  that  press  the  clutch  pedal  on  a  stopped  truck  before 
switching on and wait for 5 seconds until the transfer box main shaft is stopped, press the button 
of  the  additional  power  takeoff,  move  the  transfer  box  gears  switch  to  neutral  position.  For  the 
neutral to be switched on, press the transfer box switch button and hold it for 5...7 seconds until 
the indicator 

 slashes. The additional power takeoff is switched off only after the transfer box 

gear shift to high or low speed. 

If there is no pressure in the truck pneumatic system, the previous transfer box gear is con-

stantly switched on, and the differential is unlocked. When high speed is switched on, neutral of 
low speed can be actuated by rotating the bolt 5 (see figure 51) counter-clockwise. The bushing 
installed in the lid, moving slidingly, sets neutral in the transfer box defined by rotating the cou-
pling shaft manually, when the gearbox control lever is in neutral position. If continue rotating the 
bolt, low speed is switched on. The differential is locked in the same way by rotating the bolt 57. 

When pressing the switch in the driver's cab (the transfer box control panel, see figures 25 

and 32) of the transfer box differential lock with «

» symbol, solenoid valve A is actuated; of 

power  takeoff  with  «

»  symbol,  solenoid  valve  E  is  actuated;  of  the  additional  power  takeoff 

with  «

»  symbol, solenoid valve E is actuated; of the cross-axle differential lock with  «

» 

symbol, solenoid valve G is actuated. The solenoid valves supply air to the transfer box differen-
tial  lock  mechanism,  the  additional  power  takeoff,  the  power  takeoff,  the  intermediate  and  rear 
axle mechanisms, herein indicators flash on, and they are switched. 

When disassembling clean all the parts of electric and pneumatic control from dust and dirt, 

wash them in kerosene. Wear work faces of gear switch mechanism, the transfer box differential 
lock, the additional power takeoff and power takeoff, the cross-axle differential lock mechanism 
oil with ЦИАТИМ-201 lubricant before assembling, fill in the internals of the seals with the same 
lubricant. Seal all cone threads with АН-8К TS 6-02-6-88, АН-17М TS 6-01-2-728-86 or LOC-
TITE 577, oil sealing discs with КЛТ-75ТМ TS 2513-069-00151963-2000. 

Pay special attention to air tightness of connecting tubes and flexible hoses during operation 

and when assembling the control system. Place of strong leakage is audible; weak leakage is de-
tected with soapy emulsion. Air leakage is not allowed.
