To avoid the penetration of water and mud in the tool kit, firmly press the cover of the
tool kit with the central screw. After ford passing open the tool kit, remove water and dry tools.
After ford passing check oil level in the engine and truck units. Increased oil level, pres-
ence of water drops on the oil level indicator or oil colour change are signs of water penetration.
Change oil, if water penetrated in the oil crankcase.
Check the presence of water in the engine fuel feed system, turning away drainage plugs
of the fuel tank and the fuel coarse filter until fuel discharge. If water penetrated, pour the settling
out of the tank and change filter elements of the fine fuel purification.
Remove water out of the unit pipe airline and the starting heater boiler by turning of the
pumping unit for 2-3 min.
Check for absence of water crankcase openings of the engine flywheel and the clutch
housing by removing the lid of the flywheel crank and unscrewing the conical plug out of the
lower hatch of the clutch housing. After the check install removed details. Implement the check as
soon as possible after ford passing, do not admit long parking without mentioned check.
Extrude sliding bearings and pivot connections as soon as possible.
When moving after ford passing, pay special attention to the brake fade due to soaking
of plates. Dry brake gears by braking the truck three-five times during movement.
If when passing the ford the engine stopped, make two-three tries of engine run-ups with
the stator, making pauses between starts for 1 minute. If the engine does not start, the truck shall
be removed out of water.
After removing the stuck truck out of water, where it was more than 20 minutes, tow it
to the closest place, where maintenance could be provided. When moving under own power,
check all main assembly units, and also wheel hub cavities and swivel members of the front axle
(if there is water). When the oil level in units is high, decrease it up to the required and change oil
as soon as possible.
After ford passing prepare for performance in normal road condition all assembly units
of the truck and eliminate reasons for penetrating of water in units. To maintain truck readiness
for ford passing, it is necessary to take care of condition of hoses, tubes, their joints, unit seals and
duly eliminate defects.
When moving across the cross-country terrain, pass grooves, ditches and moats at
low speed, in especially rough conditions block differential of the transfer box. Pass grooves at
right angle, otherwise upon truck incline redistribution of load will cause slipping of free wheels.
6.4.1.1 Driving with the Trailer. To provide safe truck operation with the trailer, before
coupling make sure of size correspondence of the trailer towing eye and tractor drawbar cou-
plings. Make sure of wear-out absence of conjugated surfaces: for towing coupler of zero-
clearance coupling according to GOST R 41.55-2005 (see Installation and Operation Manual). For
towing device of the type “hook-eye” GOST 2349-75 use the trailer towing eye with the internal
diameter 90 mm and section size 42 mm, the hook of the towing device with the jaw diameter and
the width in the jaw section 69 mm. Acceptable limiting dimensions of: the loop section 38 mm,
the hook jaw 58 mm, the hook width 66 mm.
