Possible cause

Fast battery self-discharge

Failure of all

or several storage batteries

Battery leads are dirty with

mud or battery fluid covering
the battery surface

Give the battery for repair

Clean the battery with dry cloth,

then with a cloth moisten in 10%
ammonia spirit solution or soda ash
solution

Battery fluid has contami-

nants

Discharge the battery with cur-

rent, equal to 1

⁄

10 of storage capac-

ity, until 1.1-1.2 V for one battery.
Drain battery fluid, fill new battery
fluid and charge the battery

Battery fluid is decreased

too fast

Battery fluid is “boiling out”

Battery monoblock is dam-

aged

Check the voltage regulator
Give the battery for repair

Battery fluid is leaking

from one or two batteries
through the vent hole during
battery charge

Too high battery fluid level
